That's a lengthy title, isn't it? It appears in this blog because this morning, I was cleaning out our spam and saw that I had a message from Associated Content. I had nearly forgotten that I had ever signed up for Associated Content, so I went to investigate. While I was investigating, I saw a Call for Content for the above topic. Wow! I could whip that out easily, I thought. So, I did. And here it is:
What Christian mother wouldn’t love to see a Bible verse on her Mother’s Day card? I know that I, as a mom of ten children, would enjoy seeing any one of the following verses embellishing the front of my Mother’s Day card. I’ve even made suggestions for what I’d like to see on the inside of a Mother’s Day card.
1. Her children arise and call her blessed. Proverbs 31:28a (NIV) (Inside: Bless you, Mom.)
2. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Proverbs 31:29 (NIV) (Inside: You surpass them all, Mom.)
3. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 3 John:4 (NIV) (Inside: Thanks for teaching me to walk in the truth, Mom.)
4. I thank my God every time I remember you. Philippians 1:3 (NIV) (Inside: I thank God for you every day, Mom.)
5. I thank my God always, making mention of you in my prayers. Philemon 1:4 (NASB) (Inside: You’re always in my prayers, Mom.)
6. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV) (Inside: Thanks for loving me, Mom.)
7. Love is patient, love is kind. 1 Corinthians 13:4 (NIV) (Inside: Thanks for your patient, kind love, Mom.)
8. Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:8 (NIV) (Inside: Thanks for loving me with an unfailing love, Mom.)
9. Do everything in love. 1 Corinthians 16:14 (NIV) (Inside: Thanks for doing everything for me in love, Mom.)
10. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. 2 Timothy 3:14-15 (NIV) (Inside: Thanks for teaching me the Scriptures which led me to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, Mom.)
And if you’d like to get a little more verbose, you might try this verse:
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. Philippians 4:8 (NASB) (Inside: When I think of these things, I think of you, Mom.)
This verse would be appropriate, also:
The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:9 (NASB) (Inside: Thanks for being such a great example, Mom.)
Make a Mother's Day card for your mom today!
There you have it: my first submission to Associated Content. Now, when it is published, I hope everyone races over to the article.

The Wiggles!
Two years ago right about now, we were at the not-so-local library (as opposed to the local library) when Charlotte requested that we check out this video:

For some reason up to this point I had resisted all requests to check out any Wiggles videos, but that day, I succumbed and soon we were:
And singing along to:

Which led to acquiring this:
And singing this:
Which led to eating this:
(That would be hot potatoes, cold spaghetti, mashed bananas and even some fruit salad -- but that's another song.)
So when we found out that the Wiggles were going to be performing so near to our humble abode that we would not have all of the expense and hassle of an overnight trip, we HAD to go see them.
Eleanor made a sign.
We arrived (and saw that some friends from church had also arrived).
We saw the Big Red Car.
The Wiggles danced and sang.
We danced and sang.
And we acquired this:

A little more About Me
When I was little, it seemed my mom was always "going for coffee" with the other moms in our neighborhoods. I realize that this daily interaction with fellow stay-at-home moms probably encouraged my mom to keep on keepin' on with the sometimes thankless, always repetitious responsibilities of stay-at-home motherhood. Now, I, as a stay-at-home mom, desire that same kind of empathetic comradeship. I have a few hindrances to physically "going to coffee" on a regular basis, however, including living in the country and homeschooling, and not drinking coffee.
So, this blog is one way for me to "go to coffee." In it, I will record my current musings, craftings, and anything else I deem worthy of a good report in the spirit of Philippians 4:8, which, if you don't happen to have this verse memorized, reads, in the Amplified version: For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if here is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your mind on them].
As far as "keepin' it real" in this blog, since my reality involves a daily conflict with my life-long aversion to and loathing of housework, as well as the challenge of parenting two significantly developmentally delayed darlings with their consequent behavioral issues, in addition to my on-going attempts at weight management, I will spare you. (However, I reserve the right to report victories in these areas of my reality.)
And because I like to know a little more about bloggers before I spend time with them, here are a few of my interests (just in case you don't want to take time to go to a different area on this blog): evangelical Christianity, parenting, Spirit-led homeschooling, adoption, calligraphy, music (especially playing the viola and piano with our family strings group), reading (especially the Bible and CS Lewis and Dorothy Sayers and Charles Dickens), crocheting, knitting (I'm learning!), sewing, embroidery, Texas A&M, dogs, photography, dancing (especially Jazzercise and quadrilles), baking, Bunco, Nebraska football.
